Granada Learning Selects Acutest & Compuware for risk-based performance testing
Acutest, an independent testing consultancy, announced a deal in partnership with Compuware Corporation, a software and services company, to provide Granada Learning, a leading educational multimedia company with risk based testing solutions.Initially Acutest will use Compuware QALoad, an application performance testing tool, across a new version of Granada Learning’s enterprise learning management system - LearnWise. Acutest will then build a performance test centre to enable Granada Learning to continually improve the quality and reliability of its e-learning applications.
"With thousands of people using our online educational services every day, the performance and reliability of our Web based applications is critical to our success as a business. The portals have to be able to cope with heavy loads and we need to be able to provide assurances to our clients that the applications will scale to meet their needs,” said Charlie Jones, CTO of Granada Learning. “With the development of the performance test centre we’ll be able to further reduce the risk of deploying new applications, in addition to reducing testing time and cost over the next three years.”
The new performance test centre will enable Granada Learning to ensure that all future releases of existing products and new products are able to perform effectively under heavy load. Acutest will build the test centre and install Compuware QALoad as the main performance testing tool. Acutest will implement testing best practices and processes within the centre and carry out a knowledge transfer exercise around these practices to internal staff at Granada Learning. Over time Granada Learning will increase in knowledge about the quality and performance of its applications and use this data/information to reduce testing times when releasing updates to existing products.
“Granada Learning selected QALoad for this project as it provides all of the functionality they needed and Compuware offer comprehensive product support,” said Graeme Holmes, Sales Director at Acutest.
“Organisations might be aware of the importance of testing but often they face commercial pressure to go-live with applications before testing is complete. Acutest’s risk-based testing approach, enables companies to balance performance risks against testing time and cost, so they can make informed decisions about when to go-live with applications. Compuware QALoad is an ideal performance testing tool for these circumstances,” continued Holmes. “Many vendors talk about working in partnership, but in the time we have been working with Compuware is obvious that they really do.”
Jointly Compuware and Acutest are focusing on providing testing solutions and services to the growing list of companies that demand reduced elapsed testing time, reduced risk and reduced cost.
“Working with Acutest is extending out market reach, as it is an established player in a number of vertical markets,” said Amina West, Vice President UK & Ireland at Compuware. “We are very much looking forward to helping Acutest implement performance testing technologies and processes at Granada Learning and look forward to many more successful projects with them.”
